[ Discipline — Full Service Shell Contractor ]
Full-service shell contracting, teardown to lock-up.
We provide comprehensive residential and commercial demolition, excavation, foundation, and framing throughout the Greater Toronto Area and beyond — the structural backbone of every great build.
A building is only as good as the shell it stands on. As a full-service shell contractor, Halpern & Co. takes a site from demolition through to a weather-tight, framed structure — the critical early phases where schedule, safety, and structural quality are won or lost.
Our crews handle residential and commercial work alike, from a single-family teardown and rebuild to large commercial developments. Whatever the scale, we deliver on time, within budget, and to the highest standards of craftsmanship — because everything that follows depends on getting the shell right.
By keeping demolition, excavation, foundation, and framing under one roof, we eliminate the finger-pointing and scheduling gaps that plague projects split across multiple trades. One team, one point of accountability, one structure built to last.

[ 01 — What we deliver ]
The full structural scope, coordinated.
- →Demolition. Residential and commercial demolition with careful site protection, disposal, and abatement coordination.
- →Excavation. Site excavation, grading, and shoring sequenced to keep the foundation crew moving.
- →Foundations. Footings, foundation walls, and slabs — engineered, formed, and poured to spec and to code.
- →Framing. Wood and structural framing delivered to a clean, square, lock-up-ready shell.
- →Safety & permits. Code-compliant methods and inspection-ready work at every structural milestone.
- →Schedule control. Tight sequencing across phases so the trades that follow you never sit waiting.
[ 02 — Method ]
Built right from the ground down.
Shell work is unforgiving — a foundation poured a degree out of level or a frame racked out of square compounds into every trade that follows. That's why we treat the structure as the most important part of the project, not the least visible.
Our process is grounded in three non-negotiables: quality of workmanship, safety on site, and efficiency of schedule. We protect neighbouring structures and the public during demolition, sequence excavation and foundation work to avoid costly weather delays, and frame to tolerances that make the finishing trades' jobs easier — and your finished home or building tighter and quieter.
Because Halpern & Co. also works as a full general contractor, our shell crews build the way a finisher wants to receive a structure. That continuity of standards is something a standalone shell sub simply can't offer.

Either. Many clients hire us for the structure to lock-up, while others keep us on as general contractor through to final finish. We're happy to do whichever suits your project and team.
Yes — we build to code and coordinate inspections at each structural milestone so the work passes cleanly and stays on schedule.
We plan site protection, shoring, and disposal before work begins, and follow municipal and safety requirements to safeguard adjacent structures, the public, and the site itself.
